Faith Bible Chapel grew out of a series of home Bible studies dating back to
the mid 1970’s. Most of the charter members were longstanding friends and
neighbors who felt led of the Lord to seek a deeper level of spiritual growth and
personal commitment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ in our daily walk. Faith Bible
Chapel was officially born on May 29, 1979 when 23 people met at the home of
Danton and Diana Godfrey on Lebanon Rd. in the town of Coldspring. We adopted a
Constitution and Bylaws and signed a Covenant pledging to support Faith Bible
Chapel and each other with our prayers, our time, and our finances.
We met in our homes for the first six months then rented the Randolph Seventh
Day Adventist facility for nearly four years. We purchased the property at 117
Jamestown St. from Robert Matson in December of 1982. Occupancy began in
August of 1983 after extensive renovations. The Chapel initially functioned as a
bowling alley, then as Lynn Tool & Die Shop, and finally was used by Mr. Matson as
a fertilizer warehouse. We also purchased the adjoining 4 acres which were formerly
part of the Charles Rodgers farm.
The original Elders who served this local assembly were Charles Archer,
Daniel Bohall, Thomas Bohall & Robert Grosser. Other officers included Douglas &
Sally Bliss as Co-treasurers; Naomi Newton as Clerk; & Cathy Newton Vogan as
Sunday School Supt.
Since our inception eight different men have served as Pastor-Teacher or
Senior Pastor who we view as co-equal in authority with the other Elders.
